It's good that most devs did not fall for Google's #chromeos bait. While an OS built using #web technologies would indeed have been more empowering for the users in some ways, can you imagine what #Google would have done with that kind of dominance and platform control?
For a while, it seemed like #Mozilla had their heart in the right place, but they abandoned all the meaningful projects too quickly: Persona, FirefoxOS, Thunderbird, RSS feeds etc.
