I am sad to see El Salvador have any dealings with the IMF rather than see them roll out "volcano bonds" (whatever they are) or a private deal, even with the likes of Tether. But who knows what pressures are applied behind closed doors or other doors it may open.
However, perhaps Bukele is going to focus the country on individuals being free to adopt Bitcoin as a method of exchange, which, as I understand Bitcoin is legal to use for peer-to-peer electronic cash and not subject to capital gains. Taxation is theft after all, and it's more important for individuals to be free to use Bitcoin than for governments to be stacking.
It will be interesting to see how well he can balance IMF douchebags and retain individual freedom to transact with Bitcoin.
