Today, I am mourning the future moments with alcohol that cannot happen: sharing a bottle of wine with my wife, having a fresh beer at a brewery with friends, enjoying a miller high life with while fishing, or sipping whiskey while camping on a canoe trip. Alcohol has been part of almost everything I do to relax and now I have to redesign those parts of my life.
At the same time, I celebrate and look forward to deeper relationships, stronger human connection, sanity, forgiveness, clarity of mind, humility, kindness, discipline, honesty, and authenticity - I cannot have any of these with alcohol, I cannot have a complete human experience with alcohol.
