Prompted by an honest conversation about my taste on here I was reminded of this.
I have a friend who in his late teens was a bit 'alternative'. The reality was he was into high fashion, still is, (he works for a very premium brand now) but back then had a "hippy vibe" (we were off our tits together all the time) so his family, bless them, tried to give him something suitable for Christmas.
He got given a metal (don't know what metal) figurine of a wizard holding a crystal. Not super cheap, I'm sure you've seen them.
He was graceful, possibly too much so. I know he really wanted money for the John Smedley jumper and ecstasy tablet fund, but he got crystal ball welding Gandalf instead.
He's got about 50 of those fuckers now. All the family buy them for birthdays and Christmas and he has to get them out on display whenever they visit.
The butterfly effect of not speaking up.
