Made great progress #sewing a pair of jeans yesterday. The fabric is indigo dyed cotton, like denim, but the weave is puffy squares instead of tight twill. You may recognize it as the fabric for kendo uniforms. I don’t know if these jeans will stay on without suspenders - the weave gives the fabric about 5% stretch. But my husband practiced kendo in his youth, and he’s excited to try these.
I cut this pair out in September and faux-overlocked the edges before bonking the needle on the faceplate and putting my machine out of commission. By the time I got it repaired in October, I was drowning in Worst Ever seasonal depression and I didn’t even start sewing again until after the winter solstice. (That’s when my particular brain switches the SAD off and on, lol.) But I’d carefully stashed the jeans, and yesterday I managed to find them and restart the WIP.
I’d already decorated and attached the back pockets, so I just picked up with Step 2 and carried on most of the way.
