Facetimed my mom in Ottawa for a few minutes from Naples, so she could talk to her grandkids. Sent some pictures over email to friends I love and haven’t seen in years because something I saw reminded me of them.

It’s easy to forget this but I’m old enough to remember when “long distance” calls meant five or ten or twenty bucks of voice only per minute, and when somebody left town they were just gone. As in “gone”, gone.

The internet is a miracle. It’s the flagship wonder of the modern world.
