We planted an eastern cottonwood sapling in our front yard in 2020. It's already as tall as our house. I learned this tree will get 80 to 100 feet tall but only live 30 years. So I think we planted it too close to the power lines. The roots also have a habit of breaking into underground sewers and water pipes. The branches also break easy in the wind or under heavy snow. Maybe planting this tree was a bad idea.
