This also applies to using normal nato-like calibers on unarmored targets. Humans can stand and fight through a lot of shots to the torso, arms, and legs. If you happen to be using high-penetration, low caliber rounds, shooting them in the pelvis is much more likely to drop them than the upper-torso. This is also important for defense.
