I see generative AI as basically a fancy interpolation algorithm. No different to the kind that draws the nice curves in your font. The algorithm gets a set of points (the prompt) and has to interpret them (using some model, maybe Bézier? I dunno how fonts are drawn these days tbh) to decide which pixels to show (the output).
