What are the top ten albums that shaped your overall musical preferences today?

#1 Nirvana – Nevermind
I was the target audience for this album. Hello, high school freshman year. Nevermind not only carried me through high school, but during basic training we had a couple of chances to hear music and mine were a few tracks off this album. Then after basic training when I got to AIT (Advanced Individual Training), #USAF #AirForce, I finally got to get a new Walkman, this was the first tape I re-purchased. Now decades later I can still listen to the backside of this tape and get blown away by the intensity of the riffs and angst of the lyrics. “Drain You”, “Lounge Act”, and “Staw Away” in succession get you so amped up and then level off, while still a bit fidgety, with “On a Plain” and drop into the depths of despair with “Something in the Way”. Then when you think it’s all over the ‘hidden track’, which I still don’t know if it has a name, is creepy, intense, and awesome.
That’s my list. My musical tastes are still changing to this day and hopefully there are still some creative types out there to keep pushing music foreward. I’m sure there are but I’m so desperately out of the loop now, I’d have to rededicate myself to not just find it but to take the time to listen to it.
