My working assumption is that every car has something akin nowadays. In fact my working assumption is that pretty much every piece of electronic equipment and machinery, that is either expensive enough or widespread enough, has a remote kill switch. It has grown from a security feature and a theft deterrent into something that can be weaponized against rival nations.
