With questions like this I feel impostor syndrome setting in, but I am choosing to answer because interpersonal communications is one of my biggest weaknesses. It affects business, and this time I plan to get this part right. The promotion part. For me, there is a sense of, "Well that is nice, but what have you done for me lately?" How do you go to parties where someone trying to be nice has told people R.S. is a published science fiction author! (I'm quite shy, to boot.)

"What are you working on now?" Deep breaths. Deep breaths...

"I burnt out in 2001, but now I'm writing again."

"More SF?"

As if... Cue the violins.

Yes. People have read my stories. The first novel was conventionally published and is still available on Amazon. Used. I started writing again in 2015 and lots of people have read the resulting 48 short stories, novellas, novels, some joining together is various series arcs.

So, R.S. is crying starvation with a loaf of bread under each arm?

All were written non-commercially. Shared. For free. Definitely read. I'm confident of that. All for practice learning, relearning my craft. Becoming proficient narrating in 1st person. Every story was the best I could manage at the time, gaining me fans, and some very niche acclaim.

Since approximately a year ago, I am again writing commercially. I am taking what I am learning, and deciding if I believe enough in it to publish, even if that means going it alone, without an agent and self-publishing.

Well, that's almost a confession, but note I didn't share links. Since I am aiming to publish serious sometime adult gender fiction, knowing my gender (whether it's true or not online) adds subtext to what I write. You can ask via PM, of course.
