Spending time in the mountains has taught me things. The mountains are enduring and yet so fragile. I am powerful and capable of things I never imagined and utterly at the mercy of mother nature's whims. That while our blindness separates us, we are still connected to each other and to the earth. That our souls need beauty as surely as our bodies need air. That every step is a victory in the war against gravity that I will inevitably lose, and yet, death is not a loss, but a rest. That to be alive is to change. That time is an illusion. That no matter how much I learn there will always be mysteries.
