Still, I've got to ask why people have accepted a system where the signers get to see the contents of the documents at all. Surely a much simpler, more privacy-respecting and bandwidth-friendly system would have the signer only see a hash of the document.
Why wasn't it considered a red flag from the beginning that such an architecture hadn't been adopted?
