If you're a conservative and actually don't drool down your chin, this isn't aimed at you but... the reason is because many diehard reds don't give a shit about the actual meat and potatoes, they just lap up the gravy.
The same thing is happening with DOGE. Wish I could elaborate but the mental gymnastics I've seen discussing this with people in person is nothing short of mind blowing. Many of the same things they rode Biden/Harris/Dems about are now perfectly acceptable because their team is doing it.
