seeing a lot of hot "software engineering should be more like engineering" takes after the CrowdStrike mess.
engineering can have robust standards it does because the things it's building aren't new. if you're building a bridge, it is quite possibly the millionth time it has been done. the context and requirements may be in unique combination, but it's been done enough that there are processes in place to accommodate that.
