Just thought I'd mention that I've not taken so many macro pictures of bugs this year. This is because the numbers are down 95% and the interesting species to look at are gone.
Gone.
This is for several reasons, interrupted breeding patterns, pesticides and herbicides in overspray and food chain persistence, but most worryingly of all, only the species with high respiratory efficiency are surviving. This is especially true of species with lengthy larval stages.
