It's a myth that cloud companies don't contribute to FOSS, a myth perpetuated by startups that are struggling to compete with them and want you to believe that they are the underdog. In actual fact, AWS, GCP, etc, contribute hugely to open source, sending large volumes of contributions even to permissively licensed software. For instance, AWS was the single largest contributor to Redis (which was a BSD licensed project) before they went non-free -- AWS contributed more than even Redis Labs.
