Niklaus Wirth passed away. Apart from a year of learning Pascal when I was 11 or 12, I'm not familiar with most of his work, like Modula or Oberon, but Algorithms + Data Structures = Programs was a book held in very high regard by my uni competitive programming team and the coaches made great use of it in their efforts to prepare us for competitions.
