this is the first time i’d brought sketching materials on a trip abroad, and the first time we’re sketching while in cafes/restaurants. we only brought markers & fineliners to reduce weight, but tried to think of it as an exercise in creativity. not sure why is it so satisfying to sketch memories, when i can just keep photos. knowing how to frame a photo is also an artform, but perhaps there is something oddly beautiful about the clumsy misrepresentation of reality.
