Does it really really have to be cut? Can it not just seed and die back on its own? Would it be easier to manage in Autumn when it has done its thing? My garden currently looks like this. Not too long, but the local lawnmower people will be around in a day or so to reduce it. I make them keep it on the longest cut, so they don’t do too much damage.
