October 1933, German Jewish physicist Albert Einstein arrived in the United States after permanently fleeing Nazi Germany. Einstein recognized the rise in antisemitism and was an outspoken critic of the Nazi regime.
He had spoken those words during an event in New York in March 1933. Einstein’s critical remarks came the month after the Gestapo first raided his family’s apartment in Berlin, which happened repeatedly.
