I think we're on the verge of the lowest consumer confidence levels we've ever seen in my lifetime. Or probably already in it.
We're in an era where it's okay to lie. Where product reviews are clearly paid for. Where "people we trust" have brand deals. And I think we're about to see a worldwide decline in the guardrails that require things like "paid-ad" disclosure.
But no one *really* measures this, especially on the web. I mean people do measure this, but we won't trust *them* either.
