In our upside-down society, a person that speaks directly, likewise taking others at face value and in good faith, is said to suffer from a paucity of communication skills, and one that speaks in impenetrable circumlocutions and insinuations is not.
In a more rational society, you would be locked away for your own good if you said one thing and then threw a tantrum if you were not understood to have said something else entirely.
