I keep pointing out William Gibson's The Gernsback Continuum as setting the context for his cyberpunk stories. It's not so much that cyberpunk depicts dystopia, as that it depicts the rejection of utopia, because utopias are often white supremacist fantasies. The protagonists in Neuromancer and its sequels were literally fighting against capitalist utopias.
