I think that website is very toxic. They don't bother taking time to know the people they put in their list and it shows because I saw instances there classified as racist and I know for a fact that it's bs.
Yes, I agree that some instances are absolutely toxic, but I believe defederating an instance only because they don't defederate instances one dislikes is silly.
Some admins prefer giving control to their users, giving them a choice to interact, ignore, block or whatever who they want.
The instance I'm on federates with instances that saying I dislike is an understatement, but you know what? I'm glad they don't defederate them.
I'm a big boy, I can make those decisions for myself. Defederating instances based on a list curated by somebody else is the equivalent of parents buying or not buying an album or a videogame because it has been labeled inappropriate while at the same time allowing them to consume media non labeled inappropriate but that they would otherwise consider it so.
When I become a parent I will take time to check the media my kids will ask me to buy for them before buying it.
But as an adult I don't want people doing that for me. And if you want to defederate instances because you want to protect your users you should take some time to know the places you defederate instead of copypasting a list somebody else put together.
