I went to my GP a couple of months ago with a worrying red patch on one of my legs. When she saw it, she told me she had no clue what it was. She took a couple of pictures, measured it (length and width), inspected it closely by touch, and sent all that info to the dermatology department. She called me a couple of hours later to my mobile phone and told me she had a diagnose and a treatment for me from the dermatologist.
She said it was an eccematide like purple, typical from a spider bite, and that I had a creme already prescribed into my electronic card. I went to the pharmacy, got the cream (I paid less than 2€ for it, applied it every 12 hours for less than a week, and the patch was gone. I fully trust my GP, she's excellent, as is our social security system, for the moment.
