For those of you who don't think that a candidate can be replaced on the ticket at this point, I invite you to read up on Thomas Eagleton (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Eagleton). He withdrew as VP candidate on August 1. And no, this was not in the 19th century. (Whether he should have been forced to withdraw is a separate question, of course.)
