Bit of a vent.
Husband’s currently in France, collecting his new puppy (who is from Switzerland: the breeders have driven her over). She does look adorable, but.
I’m generally very anti-puppy-breeding, other than working dogs. Fortunately the specific breed he was after is very rare here and not terribly common there (and where it is found it’s often a working dog), so she’s hopefully healthy and not over-bred, but still: there are thousands of dogs in shelters, and he has none of the usual reasons (eg small children, other pets, insecure garden) for not getting a rescue.
This fifteen-week-old puppy has just had an eight hour car journey today, and will be having another, with an almost complete stranger, tomorrow.
He’s chosen this breed because it’s a smaller, short-haired version of our beloved Pooch. I am terribly worried that his puppy is going to have a very different personality to Pooch and leave him disappointed.
He’s never raised a puppy before. He’s been reading lots of books, both generally and about the breed, but still.
He’s a grown up, and it’s neither my monkey nor my puppy, but I’m just worried about this on many levels.
