When I was in college, I did both a science degree (biochemistry) and an arts minor (comparative lit). I focused on the emergence of the modern novel (from Moby Dick to Magic Mountain to One Hundred Years of Solitude). Reading such stories changed how I think, and brings me joy. I am still an avid reader.
