#Nostr hasn't been tested yet.
Most of the applications aren’t even truly decentralized.
What happens when a nation-state like the US bans the clients and apps from app stores? Seizes domains associated with relays? Forces GitHub to remove the repo? Or worse, arrests those associated with the protocol?
We saw this very real threat occur with the Tornado Cash mixer and its lead developer. But, most Bitcoiners seemingly ignored it since it was Ethereum based.
We must build better with the anticipation of governments as adversaries. Their “Ministries of Truth” will not allow Nostr to exist, when ideas contrary to theirs are shared here.
Therefore, we need to stop relying on services from Big Tech. We need to build iterations of Nostr apps that can be sideloaded and aren’t relying on infra providers who are deeply affiliated with governments. We must plan for the worst case scenario and build a truly censorship-resistant foundation.
