I wish the same, but if wishes were horses beggars would ride. It'll take more than wishing. It'll take work. A new and better world lives in our hearts. To ever see it for real on the ground, we're going to have to build it ourselves, with our own hands, from the ground up, one relationship at a time. We can do that, we just need the will.
Thank you for listening to what I have to say about it. I'm so tired of arguing with people about it. What fooled me for so many years was Jews themselves. I've hung around with Jews all my life. I like Jews. They educate themselves. I'm a life long bookworm. Who else am I going to talk to about it? Most people don't read. Jews read. They're not called the people of the book for nothing. You'll never met an ignorant Jew. There are stupid Jews. I know because I met one once, Billy Silverman. What a yutz. He was a nice enough person, buy he couldn't outwit a bag of hammers. Even he had a sheep skin. I respect the Jewish fetish for education. They're not the only subgroup of humanity that fetishize education but they do a bang up job of it. They contribute to society far out of proportion to their number. Anybody who doesn't want Jews on their side is a fool. That's how the Allies got Einstein and the Axis had to settle for Heisenberg. Anybody who thinks that Jews as a people are capable of agreeing on anything as complicated as secretly ruling the world never went out for Chinese food or pizza with my in-laws. Jews love debate. They'll debate anything. Debate is the secret sauce that explains their uncanny ability to survive the worst life has to offer. They're not the only survivors around here, but they but they're really good at it, and well worth emulating.
I'm even married to a Jew. It's common law, but we just celebrated our fortieth anniversary. We figure that counts more than some piece of paper. She's more anti-Zionist even than I am. It's personal with her. It's her own people that Zionism embarrasses the most, even though most Zionists aren't Jews let alone Israelis. They're American ChristianEvangelicals. There's a lot of them and they vote as a bloc. My wife hates them, too. So do I, and I was raised by people like that. She was raised by secular socialists in Brooklyn. She has one cousin who made Aliyah and lives as a Hasid. She has another cousin who's an apolitical Episcopalian. It's a fairly typical Jewish-American family.
Zionists call her a "self-hating Jew" and call me an antisemite. Nazis call me a "race traitor". I'm an antifascist because I'm a congenital insubordinate. I don't take orders from anyone who's not holding a gun on me. So I hate fascists. Not all fascists are Nazis, but all Nazis are fascists. Of all the fascists, I hate Nazis the most. Zionists frown on miscegenation but Nazis want to kill me for it. I take that personally. We have nearly a thousand self professed neo-Nazis within walking distance and another couple thousand more within an half hour's drive. Their ideology demands they want both of us dead. History has demonstrated that it only takes one to shoot up a synagogue or a mall or a grocery or a daycare center. To feel even slightly safe we keep a scattergun next our bed. And that's just the scattergun. We have other surprises in store for them, too. We don't like having to live like this. We want a world of peace and cooperation, but until then, it is what it is.
In the second to last GOP primary, neo-Nazi Patrick Little campaigned for senator on a platform of Holocaust denial and ethnic cleansing. He only got 90,000 votes in the whole state. He got 1,369 votes in Alameda County, 841 in SF and 1,249 in Contra Costa. That's a lot of neo-Nazis in what most of the country considers a hotbed of leftism. And that's just the ones who voted. It's safe to assume that each one owns at least one firearm. No fascist is unarmed.
This is a lot like having a fascist army camped over the next hill. In a very real sense it is having a fascist army camped over the next hill. As avid history buffs, we are all too aware of what happens when a fascist army camps over the next hill and nothing is done about it. Short version: pretty it's not.
Shakespeare was right, the past really is prologue. If we don't get ourselves organized pretty soon, it'll be the epilog too. Time is short. We need to act now.
