allowing people to live the way they want can be seen as an imposition on those who think that's a problem, that too much freedom makes life worse for everybody. weird to hear this argument coming from a libertarian, but it is true. so what liberals do is say let's accept that we can't avoid having an impact on each other, so how do we do this best? most fairly? so we try to build a society where everybody can make their case and decide together. then keep trying to do it better.
