Most nations agree Russia is technically in the wrong by violating the territorial borders of Ukraine, including in Crimea, according to international law, by 2018 most nations abstained or were absent (UN general assembly resolution 73/194 (on territorial integrity of Ukraine 64 in favor, 15 against, 83 abstained and 31 absent).
I believe this is because most diplomats recognise the complexity of the situation and Russia's security concerns. It is not just a wild out-of-the-blue land grab by a Hitleresque Putin.
