My favorite Friday the 13th movies ranked…..
1. Friday the 13th Part III
• The lead actress in this one is pretty terrible, but the supporting cast of characters are great. More importantly, this is where Jason gets his iconic hockey mask. There’s also one of the all time best kills where Jason squeezes a dude’s head until his eyes pop out.
2. Friday the 13th Part IV: The Final Chapter
• I would say this is the best “film” of the group, which isn’t saying much, but still! Starring Crispín Glover and a super young Corey Feldman, it’s the first one that’s not at a summer camp.
3. Friday the 13th Part VI : Jason Lives
• I always find it interesting that the Jason Vorhees that everyone thinks of today, the super human strength/ invincible Jason, doesn’t appear until this far along in the franchise. He has previously been kind of super human (he popped that dude’s eyes outta his head), but in this one he is literally brought back to life by a lightning strike. This movie is hilariously bad, but it’s bad in a fun way. Like how “The Room” is bad.
4. Friday the 13th (Part 1)
• It’s a pretty good twist that the killer was an old lady the whole time, I suppose. It’s hard to beat a young Kevin Bacon getting stabbed through the neck with an arrow. Classic kill.
5. Friday the 13th Part V: A New Beginning
• SPOILER ALERT YOU GUYS!!!!!
Jason isn’t actually the killer in this one. It’s some random character that is on screen once and it’s the dumbest whodunnit everrrrrrr. His mask has small blue dots on it, so that’s how you totally shoulda known it wasn’t really Jason you guys. It’s still fairly entertaining in spite of this.
6. Friday the 13th Part 2
• I’ve always found this movie to be mostly forgettable. It’s the debut as Jason as the killer, but he’s pretty laughable because he wears a sack over his head with a single eye hole cut out. This is also the movie where he is the most human as far as strength goes.
7. Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood
• This movie is straight butt. The main character is psychic and I hate it. The ONLY reason it’s not in last place is because it features the single most amazing kill in the entire franchise….. Jason snags a gal while she’s in a sleeping bag and kills her by slamming it against a tree. Delightful.
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan
• Somehow a boat on Crystal Lake floats all the way to Manhattan. It’s so fucking stupid. The movie is only in Manhattan for about 15 minutes, which is kind of funny. Not much else to say about it.
