a (university) student asked me today what class registration was like when I attended. with every word that came out of my mouth, the more it felt like I was describing a remote part of history.

registration was only available over the phone, and we only had wall mounted landlines in the dorm, so we'd have to arrange ahead with our roommates so the line was free at our assigned time. and sometimes all the reg lines were busy so we had to call back repeatedly.
