sameold (nprofile…lavm) I store both notes on how to do specific things I may need to redo (here's how to set up X server), big task lists for projects, daily notes on calendar (which is no different than other types of notes, you'll see when you try it) and journaling on the daily notes if I need to. Also engineering drafts in excalidraw (obsidian plugin)
I have also tried other tools I couldn't stick with, but the reason is most of them were "input hostile". Like " oh you're making a new note? Well first you need to goce it a title, give it a ✨ theme ✨ and put a cute little emoji on it 😊 and a priority so you'll know how to find it later!". The end result being that recording anything is frictional, cumbersome and generally no easier to find later.
Obsidian just let's you shit stuff out on a page instantly and gives you tools for going back and getting an overview of everything you put everywhere in a presentable format.
