I'm from the Chicagoland Area so the public transit could be a lot worse. That said, our public transit out in the suburbs leaves a lot to be desired. For example, our commuter rail service, Metra, runs so infrequently that it's just not particularly useful, and when it does run it uses really old diesel electric locomotives that are converted from freight use, so they're super slow and inflexible
