when i talk to some people about building a lathe the annoying thing is their perfectionism.
like i mentioned wielding parts together from scrap metal is my go to plan rn and someone was like:
"that cant be accurate because the heat will stress all the metal parts so they deform"
i struggle to see how this affects it in any major way.
like it isnt like i plan to wield stuff on one narrow joint only.
i plan to but heavy steel scrap onto heavy steel scrap and wield the edges together
this shouldnt affect measurements at all
i plan to have a tailstock for safety/accuracy but atleast in my mind it isnt impossible to align stuff rather accurate. in my mind there is room to calibrate stuff later.
i also dont wanna just buy one. thats not fun at all.
i dont wanna use a lathe, i wanna build a lathe.
TL;DR: annoyed by people who say its impossible or "just pay 400€ for a used one"
