One of my little holiday projects has been to look at restic. I'm contemplating switching my backups from my home made backup script based on rsync that has served me well for at least a decade, to something more modern.

After a bit of experimenting I have to say that restic has me impressed! It's fairly quick, it's self contained, and downloading a go binary that just runs on my system is a nice bonus as well.

I use the rest-server backend as well, and it was equally easy to get going.
