It's impossible, at least for someone like me who was living in Manhattan on that terrible day, to see this building and not think of tragedy. Though for me, 9/11 played out not just here, but across the city, in hastily copied missing posters on walls and outside hospitals. The ephemera of 9/11 is gone now; the new building is the main tangible reminder of what was lost.
