#WritersCoffeeClub #writing 22 Oct: What's your favorite writing convention to eschew?
In Japanese light novels, there is a convention of whitewashing homophobia. Everyone is okay with queers and non-conforming individuals. Even when the characters are angsting about their sexual identity you don't see it reflected in the story background.
I reference both homophobia and bullying. They are not major plot components but they are part of the social environment characters exist in and it intrudes on their lives at times.
