It always boggles my mind thinking of how much more the United States (and Canada, of course) could be if not for the sheer, overwhelming racism at the core. The amount of time and effort spent on just keeping other people down could have gone to so much more, to a civilization centered around helping each other instead of stabbing one another in the backs for a momentary advantage or finding someone to stomp with a jackboot.
