So there has to be something else which makes us reach for the word pipeline instead of "operation", "action" or "process" and other synonymous terms.
And in my mind i always think about CI pipeline as a sequence of steps. Even though the word itself suggests a certain fluidity. I guess this is caused by the concept of Jenkins pipelines imprinted in my brain by now.
