"content": "In theatres, ghost lights are lamps kept illuminated on the stage when the venue is empty and would otherwise be dark. Their function is to prevent staff from having accidents, such as falling into the orchestra pit or tripping over props. Some claim the lights date back to the days of gas-lit theatres, when lights were kept burning to relieve pressure on gas valves. A superstition states that the lights are also kept on to give the theatre's ghosts the chance to perform onstage. It is hoped this will prevent them cursing the theatre and ruining productions. #ghosts #folklore #history #gothic #Victorian #weird #theatre #acting #paranormal\n\nhttps://media.universeodon.com/media_attachments/files/113/856/596/036/262/924/original/7ab0a96f5c201a62.jpg",
