It seems that I got the ElasticSearch patch working on our fork of Sharkey. I will be implementing it next weekend, which will of course restore the enhanced search capability.
We got rid of Meilisearch because it eats up a lot of space, Resources is not really a problem since Elastic is running on a server with 16 GB of RAM. Since it's shared with Mastodon, I wouldn't need to set up another server.
I will eventually put up a cleaned up patch for Sharkey if anyone wants to switch to ElasticSearch.
