Kuzhali Manickavel is a Bangalore-based author of weird horror, slipstream, and mad humour. Her work draws on her unusual background (born & raised in midwestern Canada until age 13, when her family relocated to Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu, India, where she struggled against food insecurity & casteism) and startling imagination (here there be dragons--kept captive in the kitchen cupboard--as well as kleptomaniac penguins and bunyips in party frocks).
