China trades with Russia, but has not sold them weapons. Chinese leaders feel that this 'consession' to the US is far more than they need to be doing, but they made it anyways to maintain good will with America. Nonetheless, the US demands absolute fealty and when it doesn't get it, it applies sanctions, which it is doing now.

But this is so dumb. The very predictable response is that China will start selling weapons to Russia. Why shouldn't they if they are going to be sanctioned for it anyways?

America is very adept at getting bad results and losing faster and faster.
