You don't have a guitar pick lying around somewhere? Then again, I don't know if guitar picks are appropriate for the Ukulele, but they're similar enough for it to make sense to use.
I'd wager gluing some layers of cereal box cardboard together and cutting it to shape should make for an effective substitute of a guitar pick.
