I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as a Web Browser, is in fact a "Chromium Distribution". Chromium Distributions are not Web Browsers unto themselves, but rather modified versions of Google's Chrome with bundled extensions, UI customizations, and alternative tracking.
Chromium Distributions have most of the same security vulnerabilities as Chrome, however they are not patched as quickly, leaving you exposed to exploitation. Since they rely on Google's implementations of web technologies, they do not challenge Google's control of the web in any meaningful way.
